My golf irons dilemma?

I don’t have an expensive irons set and I don’t want to custom fit them because I want an iron set that better suits my swing first, and that is more appealing to my eye. I feel I could definitely cut a few strokes if my clubs were custom fitted. The problem is that I want a new iron set for next year but the sets I am looking at are too expensive and I don’t want pre-owned clubs. I see a lot of other golfers my same level or even worse with clubs that are better and I look at my bag and want good appealing clubs also. I feel my confidence will increase. P.S. no stupid answers like if they work for you dont change them or whatever. I actually need some advice.

I can certainly understand your position. Having clubs that appeal to your eye can make a difference, as well as having them fitted can.

Typically if someone cannot afford new clubs they go to find them slightly used. These clubs are usually in top condition and can be found in local stores as well as on ebay. They are typically 35-50% cheaper than the same club new. However, you already said you don’t want used clubs.

To ensure you get original clubs and not knockoffs that are new the only thing you can do is buy them from a reputable business. This means saving some money to put back to buy the clubs. Another option is to look on ebay. There are good vendors who sell brand new clubs (never been hit) at lower prices. Just be careful and check out the vendor before buying.

Long story short, you get what you pay for. In my opinion you will be very satisfied with yourself and happy if you just save a little bit of money each week so you can eventually go buy exactly what you want brand new and feel good about your purchase.
